Dedicated Training Ships
V.Ships endeavours to place two cadets on each ship they manage.
The safety management system of the company incorporates procedures for the cadet training program. The Group training department monitor the progress of cadets training via the network of training centres located in the principal crewing centres.
V.Ships from time to time designates dedicated Cadet Training Units for Specialised training of our cadets. With a senior officer from the fleet aboard each vessel solely dedicated to coaching the cadets, we have confidently achieved extremely good results.
Over the years the success rate of our cadet ships has been remarkable. Starting with the “Quebec” in 1990, we have had easily recouped on our investment; in fact 90% cadets from this initial batch remain with us in either senior ranks aboard ships or in positions ashore.
Aboard our ships and as per the Company safety Management system, the Master and Chief Engineer are responsible to the Company for the supervision and training of Cadets and Trainees.
We have agreements with most ship owners to engage Cadets aboard ships within the managed fleet, for purposes of gaining sea time and obtaining officer of the watch certification.
A Designated Officer is always appointed on board to respond to any questions that he/she may have and to act as a supervisor/mentor.
