Quality Safety Coach

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Focus on the role of the shore organisation in promotion of safety through human factors.
- Communicate project status to fleet group.
- Provide practical and theoretical training in Quality Safety initiatives to shore staff involved within the tanker fleet.
- Provide practical and theoretical support related to the Quality Safety activities onboard tankers.
- Motivate and coach senior management onboard towards facilitating Quality Safety activities.
- Motivate crew members onboard toward participating in QualitySafety activities
- Monitor the quality of on-board activities and report to top management with a copy to client.
- Provide a quarterly report to Client on project status.
Responsibilities onboard vessels.
- Plan and carry out visit to each vessel twice a year.
- Hold opening meeting and explain his/her role to all crew.
- Be present at daily work meetings.
- Offer guidance for the implementation of crew resource management factors in daily work routines.
- Discuss QS work with crew members.
- Discuss QS status with Captain including feedback from conversations with crew members.
- Prepare report from visit to vessel.
KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB (Essential skills, qualifications and experience)
- Minimum qualification of Class 2 (deck) certificate of competency and seagoing experience as a Chief Officer pursuant to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, as amended, or
Other formal education combined with not less than three years practical senior level experience in ship management operations. or
Qualifications from a tertiary institution recognized by the Administration or by the recognised organisation, within a relevant field of management, engineering or physical science.
- Motivated for the task and a good communicator.
- Demonstrated ability to develop trust and confidence among officers and ratings of different nationalities
- Demonstrated skills in facilitation
- Experience in safety management
- Experience in human factor and crew resource management training
- Experience of incident investigation
- Tanker experience essential
